December 11, 2014

Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis appeared for oral argument in a civil case before the Thriteenth Court of Appeals (13-13-476-CV).

January 15, 2015

After a jury trial in the 430th District Court lasting four days, an Hidalgo County jury is deadlocked and a mistrial is declared in a criminal case alleging attempted indecency with a child by contact. Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis, counsel for the Defendant, notes that after the first day of deliberations the jury vote was 9-3 for acquittal, while after an additional day of deliberations, the jury remained deadlocked (CR-1697-14-J).

January 20, 2015

Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis appears for a scheduled trial in Hidalgo County Court At Law Number Two and obtains a dismissal of a driving while intoxicated charge after the State is unable to cure counsel's objection to the failure to provide expert chemist testimony (CR-13-12274-B).

January 22, 2015

Hidalgo County Court At Law Number One agrees with Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis's argument that the State lacked probable cause or reasonable suspicion to stop the Defendant's vehicle.  As a result, the illegally obtained evidence is suppressed and the driving while intoxicated charge against the Defendant is dismissed (CR-14-2278-A).

 

January 26, 2015

After two years and 12 trial settings, and on the date set for jury trial, Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis obtains a dismissal of all felony theft charges against a client in the 175th District Court of Bexar County (2012CR5400).

 

January 28, 2015

Attorney Kelly K. McKinnis obtains on this date the entry of an order in U.S. District Court in McAllen in favor of his client in opposing an action seeking the return of minor children to a foreign country under the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (7:14-CV-934).
